History

In 1937, William Cohen, founder of Willco, started the Capitol Trash Company, which quickly grew into the area’s largest trash removal business and was later purchased by Waste Management Company.

In the early 60’s, Willco was founded when Bill and a small group of investors developed the Vanguard Building at 20th and L Streets, NW in Washington, DC. At the time, it was one of the city’s largest developments and was the headquarters of the Peace Corps.

Today, Bill Cohen's son, Richard Cohen, continues to lead the company with the spirit and principles upon which it was founded, building the Willco reputation for insight, integrity and creativity.
